Pochampally Sarees originate from the Pochampally village. These sarees are also famously called Ikkat Pochampally sarees. These sarees are pure silk and handwoven. Ikkat is a special type of Tie and Die technique where the silk threads are dyed with colours first and then woven into a saree. These different coloured silk threads will be placed in vertical and horizontal directions to get a particular design and pattern on the sarees.
